The engineer plans, coordinates, assigns, and supervises all engineering work and construction work performed by the secondary roads department. The engineer also prepares and lets contract documents for projects and prepares an annual budget and manages office staff. Good communications skills and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with county personnel, contractors, vendors, and the general public.
