The primary role of this position is to safely operate equipment and provide relief coverage in the milk receiving and whey departments. This position includes monitoring charts, maintaining records that pertain to the whey process, and working in a relief capacity in all other aspects that pertain to both departments.

Desired Qualifications:

Food manufacturing, material handling and forklift operation experience is preferred. Prior experience in the dairy or cheese industry is preferred. Prior experience in manufacturing is a plus. Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable. Maintain a valid drivers’ license. CDL Class A driver’s license preferred.

Duties:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Responsible for sampling, receiving and loading bulk milk and whey. Confirm quality tests on raw milk in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines. Ensure all policies and procedures for the PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) are followed. Operator will start up, shut down, Clean in Place (CIP), and troubleshoot equipment when appropriate. Equipment may include: tankers, receiving lines, storage silos, fine savers, evaporator, separators, ultra filtration (UF), reverse osmosis (RO) and water polisher. Ensure proper utilization, rotation loading and unloading of products. Maintain all related records and documentation per policy and in accordance with state Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship. Document and communicate production deficiencies to leads and management. Report and communicate critical information during shift change overs. Responsible for testing equipment using results to adjust equipment to improve quality of product. Responsible for understanding and following operating and cleaning procedures for the assigned equipment including cleaning lab and testing equipment after every use. Monitor the composition of solids, and temperature; make adjustments based on the type of product Maintain good housekeeping and cleanup of equipment and supplies in your work areas throughout the plant. Perform and document preventative maintenance and master sanitation tasks. Continuously look for process improvement opportunities and effectively communicate to others. Drive semis and tractor trailers in a safe manner. When properly licensed and trained, operate forklift to move inventory. Assist with training new employees. Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting. Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
