O’Brien County Tourism Announces Upcoming “When School Bells Rang” Event

Primghar, Iowa, May 17, 2016 – O’Brien County Economic Development Corporation, in conjunction with O’Brien County Tourism, announces its upcoming “When School Bells Rang” Event.

Did you attend a country school or know someone who did? Are you interested in the history of education in O’Brien County? Join us on June 23, 2016 at the Wansink Art Gallery at 1423 Park Street in Sheldon. Enjoy a presentation by Wesley Peters, a young historian, speaking about his research on country schools found in O’Brien County. Registrations can be made through June 17th and will include a tour of four school houses beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by an old fashioned “sack lunch” dinner and the presentation. Participants will also receive a presentation handout containing information from Wesley’s talk. The cost of this event is $20.00, which will be paid at the door. An RSVP is required.

Wesley’s research is an ongoing project, so if you are unable to attend this event but have information on an O’Brien County country school, please call OCEDC at 712.957.1313.
